Iranian experts install massive pipe at Isfahan Steel Mill
The project is part of the Isfahan Steel Mill’s Balance Plan.
The 90-ton pipe is 20 meters in diameter and is expected to weigh about 200 tons after being coated with fireproof porcelain, project manager Mohammad-Reza Vafaii said on Wednesday.
A foreign contractor was originally scheduled to install the pipe in eight separate parts, but Iranian experts from the Milad Company were able to safely accomplish the task in only one phase, he noted.
Upon completion, the Isfahan Steel Mill’s Balance Plan is projected to result in the addition of 1.4 million tons of raw steel to the nation’s current output.
State-of–the-art technology is being used in the implementation of the Balance Plan, which is currently 63 percent complete.
The Isfahan Steel Mill is the largest producer of steel in the Persian Gulf region and the second largest steel producer in the Islamic world, following a steel mill in Turkey.
