TEHRAN — Electricity production was boosted at Yazd Solar Thermal Power Plant (a combined cycle power plant) through installation of an additional burner at the plant, Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) reported on Monday.

Each gas turbine at Yazd power plant has already generated 100 MW of electricity. Presently, the electricity production has increased to 150 MW through equipping heat recovery boilers at the power plant with additional burner, the report added.

Yazd Solar Thermal Power Plant is located in the central province of Yazd, and its steam unit was synchronized with the national power grid late July.

The feasibility studies of Integrated Solar Combined Cycle System ( I.S.C.C.S) has been performed by multinational consulting consortium led by the German company named Fichtner and with the participation of Pilkington Solar from Germany and Electric Research Center of Iran (Niroo).

According to the feasibility studies, Yazd Province, due to good solar resources was selected for implementation of the project. Also the Integrated Solar Combined Cycle System was the technology which among other solar thermal configurations has been selected for this power plant.
