DOHA – The world's four-time and double Olympic +105kg weightlifting gold medalist Hossein Rezazadeh here Wednesday handed Iran the first gold at the 15th Asian Games.

The invincible Iranian hoisted 195 and 230kg in his snatch and clean-and-jerk attempts.

The Bulgarian-born Qatari lifter Jaber Salem Saeed took the silver with 185 and 225 kg records.

Uzbekistan's Andrey Martemyanov bagged bronze 29kg adrift.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei conveyed his congratulatory message immediately after Rezazadeh’s victory.

“I watched the competition. I sincerely express my gratitude to you for making the Iranian people happy. I wish you further success,” read the message.

Rezazadeh was the sole representative of the country in the tournament.

Nine of the 11-strong Iran underwent doping tests by the IWF on Sept. 24 and reported to test positive for blood-enhancing drugs.

The world organization heavily fined the Iranian federation and banned the nine lifters.

Iran’s federation got fined $400,000 and the weightlifters were banned for two years each.

National lifter Mohsen Davudi, who tested positive in the past as well as two months ago, was banned from international games permanently.

Ajan personally invited Rezazadeh to attend the 75th World Weightlifting Championships held in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic, in late September.

The IWF also imposed a lifetime ban on Iran’s Bulgarian trainer Georgi Ivanov.
