Fajr music festival met expectations: deputy culture minister

TEHRAN -- Iran’s deputy culture and Islamic guidance minister for art affairs said here on Sunday that the 22nd edition of the Fajr International Music Festival met his office’s expectations.
The good outcome will help organizers better arrange the 23rd edition, Mohammad-Hossein Imani-Khoshkhu told reporters at a press conference.
The valuable music which was highlighted in this year’s festival was able to satisfy frequent concertgoers and the other attendees, he added.
The festival was held in Tehran and the southeastern port of Chabahar from December 9, 2006 to January 8, 2007. For the first time, some of the outstanding programs of the gala were broadcast on Iranian radio.
Over 1200 musicians from Iran, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkey, and Lebanon participated in the event, which featured Muslim nations’ music, international, folk music, classical music, and women’s sections.
