Iranian director leaves Chavez documentary uncompleted
In a letter to the Iranian ambassador to Venezuela, Akbari explained that he has quit the project since the Caracas-based Iranian chargé d'affaires failed to cooperate with him.
“I have been dealing with making the documentary sponsored by Tehran’s Experimental and Documentary Film Center (EDFC) for almost a year. Despite your previous correspondence with the embassy regarding the production process cooperation, the Iranian chargé d'affaires refused to provide me with even a list of necessary and primary information about Venezuela,” reads a part of the letter.
“The film which could benefit both countries has been left unfinished and I have to return to Iran,” the letter adds.
However, Akbari expressed hope to resume his project with more support on the part of related officials as soon as possible.
The first part of the film was shot during the Venezuelan president’s visit to Iran last year. Later, the crew traveled to Caracas to shoot the second stage.
