TEHRAN – The first festival and exhibition of celebrated women and female breadwinners is to be held from Dec 28-Jan 7, General Manager of the Women’s Affairs Department of the Interior Ministry, Fereshteh Sasani said here last week.

The festival, which is to be held simultaneously in the provinces of Tehran, Golestan, Kordestan, West Azarbaijan and Fars is concerned with the ongoing development of women as regards their personal duties, she noted.
Women have always been faced with injustice and here we are going to remove any inequality based on gender, Sasani said emphasizing that women take on the important responsibilities of being a mother and a wife as well as their roles in society at large.
Women’s activities in various scientific, cultural, political, social and entrepreneurship fields should be undertaken whilst performing their roles in the family and upholding their personal dignity, she stipulated, adding that providing the ground for these abilities is one of the outstanding achievements of the Islamic Revolution.
“We are proud to be able to hold this festival to exhibit the capabilities of Iranian women in various spheres” she said, adding, “We are endeavoring to introduce those women who have made a great contribution to society in the scientific, cultural, social and artistic fields in order that people should appreciate their value.”
Among the main objectives of the festival are the presentation of a picture of the high position of Iranian women in the social, political, cultural, artistic and scientific arenas; the channeling and review of their capabilities and the acknowledgement of the glorious competence of Iranian women.
