Sajjad Moradi fails in 800m semifinal

Iranian athlete Sajjad Moradi has failed to qualify for the final stage of men's 800m at the “Bird's Nest” National Stadium in Beijing.
Moradi finished fifth in his group after he clocked 1:46.8 in the semifinal 2 on Thursday.Kenya's Alfred Kirwa Yego came first in the group in 1:44.73 ahead of the 18-year-old Ismail Ahmed Ismail of Sudan with 1 minute 44.91 seconds
The South African athlete who won the silver medal in Athens Olympics and the world bronze medal in 2003 stood in the sixth place after Moradi.
Moradi was the first Iranian athlete who ever qualified for the second round of men's 800m in Olympic Games.
Another Iranian athlete Ehsan Mohajer-Shojaei failed to qualify for the second round after he finished seventh in Heat 1 on Thursday.
