TEHRAN -- Turkish translator Veysel Basci is currently rendering two works from Persian classic literature into Turkish.

He has chosen “Tarikh-e Jahangosha-ye Joveyni” and “Resale-ye Sepahsalar”.
“After translating some contemporary Persian works, I have decided to try some works in classic Persian literature,” Basci told the Persian service of MNA on Friday.
“The prose of ‘Tarikh-e Jahangosha-ye Joveyni’ is very difficult, but I hope complete it as soon as possible and to publish it in Turkey,” he added.
Written by Ata Malek Mohammad Joveyni (1226-1283), “Tarikh-e Jahangosha-ye Joveini” is one of the most valuable sources in Persian history and literature, covering Iranian history during the reign of Mongols, Khwarezm-Shah dynasty, and Ismailite sect.
In addition, it contains a vast amount of worthwhile information on historical, social, and literary issues and is written in an embellished style of prose.
“‘Resale-ye Sepahsalar’ is the oldest and most remarkable document available on Rumi’s life,” Basci said.
“Resale-ye Sepahsalar” (c.1291-1312 CE) was written by a disciple of Rumi, Fereidun bin Ahmad, who studied with Rumi for 40 years.
The closing part of the book has been written by Fereidun bin Ahmad’s son, Jalal ad-Din.
Basci previously translated Iranian contemporary writer Mostafa Mastoor’s “Pig’s Bone and Leper’s Hands” and “Kiss the Lovely Face of God” into Turkish.
