French speakers now reading “Fatima Is Fatima”
TEHRAN -- The French version of Ali Shariati’s book on Hazrat Fatima (S) was published recently in Paris.“Fatima Is Fatima” (Fatima est Fatima, l’idéal universel feminine) is released by Al Bouraq Publications.
Written by Iranian scholar and social thinker Shariati, it describes Hazrat Fatima (S), the daughter of Hazrat Muhammad (S) as a role model for Muslim women around the world.
300 EDFC productions to go on sale at Cannes
TEHRAN -- Iran’s Experimental and Documentary Film Center (EDFC) will be participating in the Cannes Film Market with a collection of 300 productions.
The collection comprises several feature-length films and a number of documentary, short and animated films.
The Cannes Film Market (Marché du Film) takes place annually coincident with the Cannes Film Festival, whose 62nd edition will be held from May 13 to 24.
Foreign troupes to participate in Iran’s resistance festival
TEHRAN -- Troupes from seven countries will participate at the Iran’s Resistance Theater Festival.
Several theater troupes from Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq’s Kurdistan, the Britain, Afghanistan and Palestine submitted their works to the secretary of the gala.
The festival will be held from May 18 to 22 in the southern cities of Khorramshahr and Abadan in Khuzestan Province.
Iranian band to perform at Moscow Conservatory
TEHRAN -- Iran’s Solh Band will give a performance at the Moscow Conservatory in Moscow on May 14.
They will perform pieces composed by Hamidreza Mortazavi, Keyvan Farzin as well as some traditional Iranian songs in three sections, band member Kamran Yaqubi told MNA.
The Moscow Conservatory is a prominent music school in Russia that was established in 1866. At its opening, Tchaikovsky was appointed professor of theory and harmony. Since 1940, the conservatory has borne Tchaikovsky’s name.
Tehran Symphony Orchestra to commemorate Imam Khomeini
TEHRAN -- The Tehran Symphony Orchestra will be performing a series of concerts to commemorate the late Imam Khomeini on the eve of the anniversary of his death, which occurred on June 3, 1989.
They will hold performances from May 31 to June 3 at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall.
“We will perform a poem symphony composed by Behzad Abdi as well as two pieces by Hassan Riahi entitled ‘The Caravan’ and ‘The New Jasmine’,” the orchestra’s conductor Manuchehr Sahbaii told MNA.
Kazakh festival to screen Iranian films
TEHRAN -- Ten movies by young Iranian filmmakers will go on display at the Shaken’s Stars International Film Festival which will be held from May 16 to 20 in Almaty.
“All my Life” by Reza Daneshpajuh, “The Saint Light” by Sa’adat-Ali Saeidpur, “Old Men do not die” by Reza Jamali and “Boomerang” by Dariush Gharibzadeh are among the films.
The festival is an annual exclusive competition for young filmmakers and debut films..
