TEHRAN -- The Ibn Sina Research Institute in Sarajevo recently released a Persian-Bosnian dictionary, acting the role of a bridge between the two nations.

The dictionary consists of 50,000 words, phrases and idioms plus a simplified Persian grammar guide all contained in 1,298 pages, deputy director of the institute, Abolfazl Kaheh, told the Persian service of IRNA.
“Bosnian students needed a Persian language dictionary to help them conduct their research, and the institute in collaboration with a team supervised by Bosnian scholar Namir Halilovi accomplished the project,” Kaheh said.
“Interested students have the opportunity to study Persian language and literature at the universities of Iran, and at present, there are over 100 graduates living in Bosnia,” he said.
The book was published in Bosnia, Kaheh said, adding, “And we needed to ask permission of Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to bring the book into the country.”
He added Ibn Sina Research Institute is an independent organization that receives no funding from the Iranian government and derives its revenue by translation and publication of books.
The institute has published a versified Bosnian translation of the Divan of Hafez in 2009.
