Toronto festival to screen Iranian “Hunter”

TEHRAN -- The Iranian film “The Hunter” will go on screen at the Contemporary World Cinema section of the 35th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Directed by Rafi Pitts, the film is about a young man who randomly kills two police officers in an act of vengeance. He escapes into a forest, where he is arrested by two other officers.Pitts, Mitra Hajjar, Nasser Maddahi, and Malek-Jahan Khazaii are the main members of the cast.
Acclaimed films Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Palme d’Or winner “Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives”, Jean-Luc Godard’s “Film Socialisme”, Lee Chang-dong’s “Poetry” and Ken Loach’s “Route Irish” will also screen during the event.
The festival, which will be held from September 9 to 19, “offers screenings, lectures, discussions, festivals, workshops industry support and the chance to meet filmmakers from Canada and around the world,” as mentioned in TIFF website.
“It’s Winter” (2006), “Sanam” (2000) and “The Fifth Season” (1997) are among Pitts’ credits.
