TEHRAN -- Paintings by Iranian artists Katayun Ruhi will go on display during an exhibition at the Taïss Gallery of Paris alongside Kambiz Sabri’s sculptures from March 11 to May 11.

Entitled “Ut pictura poesis”, the exhibition will display “a vivacity of Persian cultural heritage”, as the gallery’s website announced.
Upon seeing one of Sabri’s works, an official from the gallery sent him an email to invite him for an exhibition in Paris, Sabri asserts.
Six sculptures created by Sabri will go on display on one floor of the two-story gallery, he said.
Three of his sculptures will go on display at the Art Paris by the Taïss Gallery at the event which will be held from March 21 to April 4.
The gallery website described their artworks as seeming “to have little in common” at first glance. “However, a more penetrating look uncovers symbolism that reveals a similar quest: that of knowledge”.
The website also explained about Ruhi’s paintings which “represent this quest for self that passes through introspection and the necessity of living in osmosis with nature. Both speak in a symbolic manner. Both have the same objective, plenitude”.
“Iranian philosophy is based on the apparent and the hidden. What you see has to relate to something invisible that must be revealed,” Ruhi told the gallery website.
The exhibit borrows its name from a Latin statement literally meaning “As is painting so is poetry” that occurs most famously in Horace’s “Ars Poetica”
