NEW DELHI (IRNA) – Indian Muslims held a massive protest march in New Delhi on Sunday to condemn the suppression of pro-democracy movements in Bahrain, Libya, and Yemen.

Under the banner of Majlis-e-Ulema-e-Hind, the representative body of Muslim clergy, Muslim religious scholars, students, activists, poets, and other people from all over India assembled at Rajghat and proceeded to Jantar Mantar to protest against the dictatorial rule of Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa and the brutal crackdown on pro-democracy protesters his forces are conducting in the country, with the help of troops from neighboring regimes.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Bahrain, Yemen, and Libya, the protesters, led by eminent Shia religious scholar Maulana Syed Kalbe Jawwad Naqvi, the general secretary of Majlis-e-Ulema-e-Hind, and Maulana Yahya Bukhari, hailed the people’s uprising against the United States and its puppet regimes in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The people have been denied their right to democracy by the pro-U.S. dictators of the region for decades.
But now, for the first time in the history of the Arab world, the people were able to gather the courage to demand their legitimate rights. However, the response they are receiving is bullets and tear gas shells.
The Bahrain Center for Human Rights in Manama has reported that the people detained by Bahraini government forces are being tortured. The rights group said that bruises and lashing marks have been found on the bodies of the detainees who have died in government custody.
In March, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait deployed their troops to Bahrain to reinforce the brutal armed clampdowns against mass protests.
Scores of protesters have been killed and many others have gone missing during the harsh crackdowns.
