Judiciary chief orders action on Student Welfare Fund corruption

TEHRAN - The Judiciary has announced that it is in receipt of a financial corruption case of the Student Welfare Fund.
Kazem Palizdar, secretary of the Office for Campaign against Economic Corruption, said that the case addresses a financial crime of 32 billion rials (about $11.3 million), the Iran newspaper reported on Monday.The fund had signed 14 investment contracts with 3 companies within 10 months - from October 11, 2012 to August 11, 2013 as part of legal undertakings to fund its own organization.
As the 3 companies refrained from acting to their part of the deals, the fund filed a case with the staff, which is under investigation, Palizdar said.
He added that the Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani has given special orders to address the case and redeem the public fund lost thereby.
