TEHRAN – Iranian director Kurosh Zarei will stage a play on the childhood of the 12th Imam of the Shia, Hazrat Mahdi (AS), in Tehran’s Vahdat Hall.

Entitled “Like Moon for the Sky”, the play will go on stage on May 26, Zarei told the Persian service of MNA.
“The play begins with a contemporary story. Then it goes back in history and narrates the life of Imam Mahdi (AS) from birth up to the age 5,” he added.

“A man named Sargashteh (lost) is looking for a savior, and he finds the house of Haj Ebrahim who has been deceased for years. Based on his will, the birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi (AS) is celebrated in his house every year.

“Haj Ebrahim’s son plans to sell the old house to make way for a new apartment building. However, the son goes back in time with Sargashteh to the years before the birth of Imam Mahdi (AS) and the story continues from there,” he explained.

The play reviews the concept of expectation and reappearance of the savior, he said.

Writer Hossein Fadaii and musician Emad Tohidi are collaborating in this project, while Ayyub Aqakhani, Hadi Qomeishi, Ali Farahnak and Kazem Nazari are among the major cast members.
