Moritz Ernst to join Iran’s Nilper Orchestra at Tehran concert

TEHRAN – German pianist Moritz Ernst will join Iran’s Nilper Orchestra for a concert of contemporary and classical music by world composers at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on August 2.
The first part of the concert is dedicated to a solo performance by Ernst in which he will perform works by German composer Wolfgang Rihm, Austrian composer Viktor Ullmann (1898–1944) and Sandeep Bhagwati, a German-Indian composer of western classical music.Moritz Ernst is also due to perform several pieces by Iranian composers Hushayr Khayyam and Peyman Yazdanian, the Persian service of ILNA reported on Saturday.
The second part will be a joint performance by the Nilper Orchestra with the pianist.
The Nilper Symphonic Orchestra was founded in 2003 by Navid Gohari, who is also the manager and conductor of the orchestra. Nima Zahedi is also collaborating as the concert maestro.
The program aims to boost cultural relations between Iran and Germany. The concert has been arranged in cooperation with the cultural Department of the German Embassy in Tehran and the Goethe Institute.
