Police official: Iran is vanguard in drug war

TEHRAN – In a gathering of police officials in charge of campaign against drug trafficking it was declared that Iran is the frontrunner in the world in the campaign against drug trafficking.

“With a reliance on domestic capacities and application of local equipment we are the flag bearer in discovering and campaigning against drugs in the world,” Ali Mo’aiedi, the anti-drug police chief, told the seminar in which interior minister was also present.

Mo’aiedi also said over the past ten months police have discovered about 475 tons of different kinds of drugs and destroyed 2300 networks involved in drug trade.
Also 51 drug traffickers were killed during this time in fight with police forces.
