Iranian stage artists to commemorate 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s passing

TEHRAN -- Iranian thespians, stage artists and literati will come together at the Tehran Independent Theater on April 23 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of the English dramatist, William Shakespeare.

Director and theater expert Qotbeddin Sadeqi, who is also a prominent actor, is the secretary of the meeting, the Tehran Independent Theater announced in a press release on Thursday.

Some short performances have been arranged for the meeting, which is also being supported by the Tamashagan Performing Arts Institute. 

In addition, some literati who have translated works by Shakespeare into Persian and several artists who have been involved in projects concerning Shakespeare’s works in their careers will deliver speeches in the program.
