More Historic Monuments Registered as National Heritage

BUSHEHR Three historical monuments on Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf were registered as national buildings, it was announced here Monday. Head of provincial cultural heritage department Seyed Abdolaziz Balali, told IRNA that the tomb of Mir-Mohammad Hanafieh, Pamirians temple and graves and Nastoorian's church were registered as national mouments. According to the law, from now on, the said monuments are under the protection of Cultural Heritage Organization and any attempts to destroy the buildings is punishable.

He added that the tomb of Mir-Mohammad Hanafieh, believed to belong to son of Imam Ali (AS) the first Imam of the Infallible Household of the Prophet (PBUH) dates back to the ninth lunar century. Palmirian temple and graves, located in eastern part of Kharg, date back to Sassanid era, he said adding the Nastoorian church also dates back to Sassanid era.

Meanwhile, reports from Oromiyeh, west Azarbaijan Province, indicate that 12 historical monuments were also registered as national buildings. Head of west Azarbajian's national heritage department told IRNA that five of the monuments; Chehriq Fortress, Aftabkhan-e Church, Salmas ancient dam and two heights of Qara-Tapeh and Goal-Tapeh of Aharjan are located in Salmas and Aloq-Beig glacier and Qatoor Dam are located in Takab. Meimand Bridge in Naqadeh, ancient bath in Sardasht, Seyed Rasoul Bridge in Miandoab and Jameh Mosque in Choras village in Khoy and Maku's municipal building are among the said monuments which were registered as national buildings.
