Iranian Embassy in Bern is not safe: ambassador
December 7, 2011 - 18:14

Ambassador Ali Reza Salari made the remarks in a recent interview with SonntagsBlick, the Sunday edition of Blick, which is a German-language daily tabloid newspaper published in Zurich, Switzerland.
“The Iranian embassy in Bern has been repeatedly attacked”, he said, adding, “Our embassy has been attacked once or twice a month since I was (appointed) as ambassador.”
Salari added that the most recent attack occurred at 3 p.m. last Wednesday when some unidentified people threw Molotov cocktails at the embassy’s building.
On November 30, two young men, who spoke in German, threw several petrol bombs and stones at the Iranian embassy in Switzerland and set part of the embassy’s garden on fire.
In the early 1990’s, terrorists attacked the Iranian embassy in Bern and vandalized it and scattered them along the neighboring streets.
He added that the Britons carried out several attacks against Iran in a span of 400 years, and today they are planning another “war” against the country and have paved the way for the adoption of sanctions on the Islamic Republic.
Commenting on the West’s propaganda campaign against Iran with the aim of promoting Iranophobia and their allegation that Iran is diverting its nuclear program to weapons production, Salari said Western governments should be cautious about leveling unsubstantiated accusations.
Certain Western countries are making such baseless allegations, which are meant to divert public attention, while they themselves possess thousands of nuclear bombs, he added.
Salari also said that the dispute between the Islamic Republic and the West could be resolved if the Western countries revise their attitude toward Tehran and acknowledge Iran’s rights.
