TEHRAN -- A copy of the Holy Quran, which has been calligraphed in gold-honey ink, was unveiled during a ceremony at Tehran’s Azadi Tower on Thursday.

 

Inscribed by Alireza Behdani, the 604-page book in 50x70cm format was completed in 114 weeks, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Friday.

 

The unveiling ceremony took place in the presence of Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Hamid Shahabadi.

 

Appreciating the great effort carried out by Behdani, Shahabadi said that this is the 44th artwork created by the young artist and calligrapher Behdani.

 

We need to express our gratitude to the artist who has spent his life on inscribing the Holy verses of the Quran, he added.

 

So far, Behdani has donated copies of the Holy Quran he has inscribed to the President, the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (AS), the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein (AS), the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art.

 

Born in Birjand in South Khorasan Province, Behdani is a graduate of Persian literature, with first grade in calligraphy.
