The Palestine Museum of Contemporary Art is displaying about 300 works from the different fields of cartoon, poster, illustration, earthenware, paintings, miniature and several more, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Sunday.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini Hosseini stressed on the significance of the section and said that committed artists focus on the Islamic Awakening in their arts.
“Minds and thoughts are strongly influenced by artistic works. Therefore, it is good to make use of art to help promote Islamic Awakening.
“Iran is a prime example for Islamic Awakening in the region, having accomplished great achievements in economy, industry, science, and culture”, he added.
The Islamic Awakening movement indicates that people are after a government based on Islamic education and would like their social, political and economic life to be centered on Islam, he said.
Hosseini also emphasized that the top winner of this section will receive a collection of 50 Bahar Azadi gold coins worth about $40,000.
He also hoped that a selection of works on Islamic Awakening would be exhibited in other Islamic countries in the future.
The Islamic Awakening section will be running until March 15 at the museum located at 64 Mozaffar Bros. St., off Taleqani Ave., near Felestin Square.
The major section of the festival was opened at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMCA) on January 30.
