Lithuanian artists displaying hand-woven textiles in Tehran

TEHRAN -- A conceptual art exhibition of hand-woven textiles by three Lithuanian artists was inaugurated at the Saba Art and Cultural Institute on Tuesday.
The installation has been created by Ignas Kazakevicius, Brone Neverdauskiene and Monika Zaltauskaite-Grasiene.
Having been invited to Iran by the Iranian Academy of Arts (IAA), the three artists attended a session organized on the side section of the opening day, the Persian service of MNA reported on Wednesday.
Director of Saba Institute Masud Naseri began to talk first and emphasized on the relations between the artists of Iran and other countries, which provide the opportunity to study the art of other countries.
Kazakevicius next handed a piece of stone from their country to the IAA officials as a souvenir and Monika Zaltauskaite-Grasiene talked about the art of textile weaving in Lithuania.
She regarded the art of textile weaving of Lithuania a unique phenomenon in the world, which goes back to 70 years ago and it was developed after the textile department of the Vilnius Academy of Art was established in 1940.
She added that the industry of textile weaving and its different techniques have developed in the country over the past 20 years.
The exhibit will be on show for one month at the institute located on Mozaffar St., off Taleqani Ave. near Felestin Square.
