Karlovy Vary festival to screen “Lanturi”

June 8, 2016 - 18:51

TEHRAN – Iranian director Reza Dormishian’s social drama “Lanturi” will go on screen in the non-competitive section of the 51st Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

The movie, starring Baran Kowsari and Milad Mohammadzadeh, tells a love story that is turned tragic by external circumstances. Gang member Pasha runs amok because Maryam, a socially committed, self-confident journalist, does not reciprocate his feelings. The badly injured young woman demands lex talionis – the law, applicable in Iran, of ‘an eye for an eye’.

About 150 films by directors from around the world will compete in various sections of the festival, which will be held from July 1 to 9.
