Quarterly exports from Iran’s mining industry up 47% yr/yr

TEHRAN - Iran’s exports from mining industry raised 47 percent in the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-June 20)compared to the same period of time in the past year, ISNA reported on Monday.
Mining industry’s worth of exports reached $1.188 billion in the mentioned period which equates achieving 104 percent progress in export plans for this sphere, Mohammad Reza Modoudi, the vice president of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO), was quoted by ISNA as saying.
According to Modoudi, the planed value of exports for mining industry in the mentioned period was $1.140 billion which was exceeded by $48 million.
More than one-fifth of the total value of exports during the last Iranian calendar year of 1394 (ended on March 19, 2016) was related to the mining sector, based on Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation Organization, known as IMIDRO.
In 1394 the total value of foreign trade in mining industry stood at $11.5 billion from which $7.05 billion belonged to exports and $4.44 billion related to imports, Tasnim News Agency cited a report by IMIDRO in May 2016.
The share of mining sector from the country’s total export in 94 was 21.6 percent, while the share of imports was 11.1%.
