Encyclopedia center to commemorate Italian Iranologist Gherardo Gnoli

TEHRAN – A Number of Iranian and Italian scholars will come together in a session at the Center for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia in Tehran on Thursday to commemorate Italian Iranologist Gherardo Gnoli (1937-2012).
Gnoli was one of the most distinguished experts on the ancient history of Iran. He was among the driving forces promoting Iranian studies around the world and succeeded in establishing the subject in a number of Italian universities.
Italian scholars Antonio Panaino, Adriano Rossi, Pierfrancesco Callieri, German lecturer Almut Hintze, Italian Cultural Attaché Carlo Cereti and Iranian scholars Jaleh Amuzegar, Mahmud Jafari, Ahmad Pakatchi and Ruzbeh Zarrinkub are scheduled to deliver speeches during the meeting.
