TEHRAN – Iran failed to qualify for the 2018 Beach Handball World Championship semifinals after being defeated by Spain.

On Saturday, Team Melli lost to Sweden 2-0 (18-12, 15-14) at the Beach Sports Complex in Kazan, Russia.

Iran will have to play Spain on Sunday in the 5th-8th place play-off.

The Persian have already lost to Spain 2-0 in Group I.

The six days of competition is being held at the Kazan Beach Sports Complex, in Kazan, Russia from July 24 to 29.
