Total Eclipse of Moon Visible in Iran on Tuesday

TEHRAN A faculty member of Shahid Beheshti University said here today that a total eclipse of the moon could be viewed within Iran on Tuesday which may also be visible in many parts of Europe, Africa and Asia.

Ahmad Dalaki told IRNA on Saturday that the occurrence of the lunar eclipse could also be properly viewed by observers in Iran.

He said the eclipse would start at 21:13 hours (Tehran time) on Tuesday, adding that the full eclipse of the moon will take place about one hour, seven minutes and 30 seconds later.

Dalaki, who is also head of the Tehran Astronomy Center, said the total eclipse of the moon will last for 62.1 minutes.

He said that in case of good weather condition the eclipse would be visible for 1.5 hours.

A total eclipse of the moon was last seen in Shesh-Talan village southeast of Saravan, Sistan-Baluchestan Province (in southeast Iran) on July 16, during which the moon turned ruddy red.
