Iranian Short Film "Shangul and Mangul" in Mexico
According to a report released Wednesday by the Center for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (CIDCYA), the ongoing non-contest festival is aimed at acquainting children with the culture, customs, language, and selected films from other countries.
Based on the children's opinion poll to be obtained at the ongoing yearly event, the best short film and long film will receive a symbolic award at the closing ceremony.
****Shangul and Mangul**** has so far won the golden statue of the 11th Cairo International Film Festival in the Television Animation Section, as well as many other national and international awards.
***"Golden Butterfly"**** and a **** "Certificate of Appreciation"***** from 15th Isfahan Film Festival for Children and Young Adults, three crystal birds from Tehran International Animation Festival, and a ****"Certificate of Merit"**** from Chicago Film Festival, and the Special Youth Section of Cannes Film Festival held in France, are some of the awards of the film.
***Shangul and Mangul**** has been produced by the Center for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults.
It was also awarded as the best film in the Asian Film Section of the 18th International South Korean Film Festival held in the port city of Pusan, south of capital Seoul against 44 films.
Pusan Festival was founded in 1980 with the aim of boosting the level of cultural exchanges in South Korea, and identifying young Asian film producers.
The film, produced at CIDCYA based on 'cutout' style, had been previously awarded at the International Chicago Film Festival.
