TEHRAN -- The chairman of Iran's Red Crescent Society, Dr. Ahmad Nour Bala, said, "Using the youths' talent and their participation in social and cultural affairs is necessary."

He also said that since the youth are the largest part of the country's population, they should be regarded as the fundamental factor for promoting peace and friendship in society.

"Two hundred Red Crescent Society centers have been established at universities and 500,000 at the schools of the country thus far," Nour Bala added. He said, "All know that the youth working for the Red Crescent Organization are not being used for political goals, and due to this fact the planning of the Red Crescent is warmly welcomed by society."

He referred to the fact that the government has allocated limited funds to the Red Crescent Society and said that officials should pay more attention to the society because of its serious responsibilities, such as providing assistance during natural disasters.
