Gas exporting states to hold 6th ministerial meeting in Qatar

TEHRAN – The sixth summit on gas exporting countries will be held in Qatar on April 9, said Hossein Kazempur- Ardebili, a member of OPEC board of directors, said Saturday.

He said coherence is the main goal of the meeting.

The main topics of the summit will be supply security and stability of gas market, said Kazempur-Ardebili, adding that an office will be set up in Qatar.

Iran, Qatar, Algeria, Nigeria, Venezuela, and Egypt are the assembly’s most active countries and Russia is hoped to get more involved.

The first summit was held on May 20, 2001 in Tehran, the second in February 2001 in Algiers, the third in February 2003 in Doha, the fourth on March 14, 2004 in Cairo, and the fifth in April 2005 in Tobago.
