TEHRAN -- Iran’s international publisher and distributor of Islamic books Al-Hoda published a new English translation of the Holy Quran last week.

The new version has been translated by Iranian scholar Tahereh Saffarzadeh.
In the introduction, Saffarzadeh gives a brief history of translation of the Holy Quran and explains why she made a new English version of the holy book.
The poet, writer, and translator also plans to prepare a new Persian and English translation of the Nahj-ul-Balaghah of Imam Ali (AS) in the near future.
In March 2006, she received the title of 2005 Woman Scholar of the Islamic World, which is annually selected by the Organization of Afro-Asian Writers in Egypt.
Saffarzadeh, 71, has published fourteen volumes of poems and she is also the author of ten books on the principles of translation of literary, scholarly, and Quranic texts.
Saffarzadeh has presented several theories on the effectiveness of the science of translation, with “Scientific Progression via Translation” regarded as the most notable.
She has also written the book “Translating the Fundamental Meanings of the Holy Quran” (1999), in which she examines the main flaws and shortcomings of previous translations of the Quran by Muslim and non-Muslim scholars
