“Insects Concert” to buzz in Niavaran

TEHRAN -- Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural Center is scheduled to host a musical puppet show named “The Insects Concert”, directed by Maryam Sa’adat.

The series of shows will begin at the center’s Gusheh Hall on December 9 and the troupe is slated to play six musical pieces in each performance of the 13-day program.
The compositions, entitled “My Homeland”, “Tom and Jerry”, “The Key”, “The Playmate”, “High Schools” and “Oh Iran”, have been arranged for the instruments keyboard, jazz percussion, electric guitar, violin and tumba which will played by the puppeteers of the grasshopper, spider, bee, ant and ladybug.
The music has been composed by Keivan Kiaras and the lyrics, which have been written by Omid Soltan-Ahmadi, will be sung by vocalists Soltan-Ahmadi, Mohammad Bahrani, Delaram Mostofi and Mani Sharfi.
The puppeteers include Hedyeh Hashemi, Omid Soltan-Ahmadi, Mohammad Bahrani, Kazem Sayyahi, Shima Bakhshandeh, Marjan Namvar-Azad, Bahador Malekif and Negar Shahbazi.
They will be handling the beetle, cricket, fly, spider, bee, ant, grasshopper and ladybug puppets.
The “Insects Concert” was given a warm welcome by people at its debut in Tehran’s Banu Cultural Center in 2006. Since then the troupe has performed 1000 shows in the cities of Hamedan and Bandar Abbas and at several centers in Tehran
