180,000 Visit Money Museum

TEHRAN Some 180,000 of Tehran residents have visited the Money Museum since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (starting March 21). The museum is affiliated to the Mostazafan and Janbazan Foundation (MJF). The museum manager told the reporters on Thursday that an average of 850 people visit the museum every day, so by the end of the current year some 305,000 people will have visited the museum.
There are 1,200 coins dating back to pre- and post-Islam era and 700 notes dating back to Qajar and post-Qajar era on display at the museum. The manager also said that the coins from the pre-Islam era date back to Achaemenid, Ashkanid, Seleucid and Sasanid dynasties. The post-Islam coins date back to Omayyad, Abbasid, Kharazmshahian, Teimourian, Safavid, Afsharian, Afghan, Zandieh, Qajar and Pahlavi dynasties.
The museum is located on Mirdamad Street and is open to the public every day expect Monday from 9:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m.
