As controversy over the mistreatment of protestors in Iranian prisons continues, Iran's police receive public complaints about the misconduct of its forces during the post-vote unrest.

The Iranian police issued a report on Monday, stating that 433 formal complaints had been lodged against its forces over evidence of their ""wrongdoings"" over the course of the post-election demonstrations.
Hundreds of thousands of Iranians marched in days of street protests after the June 12 election, denouncing official results that declared Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the winner.
At least twenty people died and nearly 3,000 demonstrators, who claimed that ""fraud"" had denied victory to their leader Mir-Hossein Mousavi, were arrested.
Following the arrests, the condition of protestors in prison made headlines in the country, prompting a parliamentary investigation of abuses at the ""substandard"" prison of Kahrizak.
The prison was shut down last month by order of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
Iran's prosecutor general Qorbanali Dori-Najafabadi acknowledged earlier that ""painful incidents"" had taken place and encouraged people to come forward with complaints.
The Monday report said the police were looking into the complaints which have been filed by residents in various neighborhoods in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The cited locations include central neighborhoods of Azadi, Enqelab, Haft-e-tir, Seyyed Jamaleddin Assadabadi (Yousefabad), western neighborhoods of Sadeqieh, Pounak, Kouye Nasr, Jannatabad, northern neighborhood of Qeitarieh and eastern neighborhood of Tehranpars.
The instances of misconduct include destroying cars, shattering windows, pulling house doors down, beating up protestors and causing injuries along with hurling insults at demonstrators.
The police have so far paid compensation for some of the loss and damage and offered consolations to those hurt during the recent unrest in the capital.
After dealing with 90 cases from among 433 complaints the police have thus far paid $17,200 to the victims of the post-vote misconducts, IRNA reported.
