ITU TELECOM WORLD 2009 underway in Geneva

TEHRAN -- ITU TELECOM WORLD 2009 exhibition and forum opened in Geneva on October 5 with Ban Ki-moon UN Secretary-General and Hamadoun Touré ITU Secretary-General in attendance.

The event started with an opening letter written by Nelson Mandela the former president of South Africa.
Two delegations from Iran have taken part in the event, MOJ news agency reported.
The Iranian minister of Communications and Information Technology visited the exhibition and spoke at the Youth Forum giving information about the measures taken by Iran in promoting Internet in universities and future plans of the ministry in this regard.
TELECOM is a part of the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) and organizes major events for the world's ICT community
