TEHRAN – A new book containing images of Iran’s nature and its historical monuments taken over the past fifty years by veteran photographer Nasrollah Kasraian has recently been released by Nazar Publications.

Entitled “Report of a Life”, the book was introduced during a ceremony held at Tehran’s O Gallery on Wednesday, attended by the photographer and a number of friends and artists, the Persian service of Honaronline reported.

“Kasraian has been engaged in this activity over the past 50 years. He is one of the most honorable men I have known in my life; the nobility of his intentions are clear in all the books he has published so far,” Managing Director of Nazar Publications Mahmud Bahmanpur said at the ceremony.

He is someone who publishes his books for the general public, Bahmanpur said, adding, “No book has so far been able to replace his books on photography around Iran and that is why we view Kasraian as a giant of a man in photography in Iran.”

“What I have done all these years was only out of my personal interest. I believe I need to hold talks with my viewers,” Kasraian said at the ceremony, adding that he has portrayed both the positive and negative images of the country in his photos.

He next read part of the message published in the brochures handed out to the participants at the ceremony.

“I thought my last project would be ‘In Alleys of the World’. I have republished several of its photos in this (new) book. ‘Report of a Life’ is not a mere collage of other books. Of course, some of the photos were previously published in several other books.

“The other part contains the photos I have recently found or taken. But on the whole, the book aims to show a process of the photographer’s career over the past half of a century, a process that my other books were not able to go through individually,” Kasraian recited.

Born in 1944, Nasrollah Kasraian has published more than 20 photo books, three of which have been published abroad, covering all regions of Iran.

His most successful publications are “Our Homeland Iran”, “Nomads of Iran”, “Kurds of Iran”, “Turkmen of Iran”, “Baluchistan” and “Architecture of Iran”.

Kasraian’s works have been published in numerous international magazines such as GEO, Grands Reportages, Animan and Altair, and have been displayed at exhibitions held in Germany, Canada, France, Italy and Britain.
