TEHRAN – Abbas Araqchi, a top Iranian negotiator, has said that the nuclear talks will continue until the July 1 deadline and may even extend beyond that.

He made the remarks upon arrival for nuclear talks at Vienna airport on Wednesday.

“We are not bound to the time, but we are bound to the matter that a good agreement with our favorable contents is achieved even if it takes time,” he stated.

He also said that the lifting of sanctions and establishment of a joint committee to enforce the agreement are on the table in this round of talks, he stated.

On Wednesday Araqchi and Majid Takht-Ravanchi, another Iranian negotiator, met with EU political director Helga Schmid.

Araqchi said that representatives from the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) may join the talks on Thursday.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he stated that the talks are becoming “more complicated, more detailed and more serious” as Iran and the major powers are entering the final stages of the talks.

The new round of the nuclear talks which started on Tuesday at expert level will last until Friday.
