TEHRAN – MP Ali Motahari told the Mehr News Agency on Wednesday that he will contest the March parliamentary elections as an “independent”.

“I’ll register as an independent candidate. However, some blocs or currents may wish to include me in their lists,” Motahari said.

Motahari also said he will field his candidacy from the Tehran constituency.

Ali Motahari is a son of the noted Islamic scholar Ayatollah Morteza Motahari (1920-79).
