TEHRAN – The 2015 bestseller novel “Fifteen Dogs” by Canadian writer André Alexis has recently been released in Persian by Mahabeh Publications in Tehran.

An apologue, the novel is about a group of fifteen dogs kenneled at a veterinary clinic in Toronto. The story reaches its climax when they are suddenly gifted by the gods with human consciousness and language.

Rendered into Persian by Najmeh Borumandi, the novel was originally published by Coach House Books in 2015. It won the Scotiabank Giller Prize and the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize.
