TEHRAN – The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMCA) will showcase a collection of works by Iranian and Arab modern artists in an exhibition entitled “The Sea Suspended”.

Forty artworks by Iranian artists have been selected from the treasure trove of TMCA for the exhibit, which is scheduled to open on Tuesday evening, the TMCA announced in a press release on Sunday.

Forty works by Arab artists loaned by the Barjeel Art Foundation in the United Arab Emirates will also be put on display at the showcase.

In addition, the exhibition will showcase six works by Lebanese and Palestinian artists.

The artworks selected for the show have been created over the 50-year period from 1940 to 1990.

The exhibition will provide an opportunity for scholars and students for a comparative study of Iranian and Arab modern art, the TMCA said.

“The exhibition also aims to scrutinize an important period in the history of Iranian and Arab art, which was born of changes and remarkable progress in the world,” the museum added.
