Review of Chinese cinema conducted in Iranian cities

TEHRAN – A program reviewing Chinese cinema was conducted in six Iranian cities over the past three days.

The program “The Chinese Cinema at a Glance” opened at the Film Museum of Iran in Tehran on Wednesday and continued by screening films from Chinese directors in the cities of Shiraz, Isfahan, Tabriz, Babol and Kerman, Iran’s Art and Experience Cinema announced on Friday.

“Aftershock” by Feng Xiaogang was screened during the opening ceremony of the program.

“Aftershock” depicts the aftermath of the 1976 Tangshan earthquake. The film was a major box office success and won the best feature film award and the award for best actor by Chen Daoming at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards in 2010.

“Mountains May Depart”, a futuristic science fiction form a stunning triptych by Jia Zhangke, and “A Tale of Three Cities”, a war romance by Mabel Cheung were the other two Chinese films screened during the event.

The event was organized by Iran’s Art and Experience Cinema in collaboration with the Embassy of China in Tehran.
