TEHRAN – An international affairs analyst has called on President Hassan Rouhani to propose a resolution in support of multilateralism as opposed to U.S. unilateralism in his speech at the UN General Assembly this month.

“If Mr. Rouhani’s speech, like in previous years, would not lead to any resolution or international conferences, it would be better he didn’t go,” the Arman newspaper on Monday quoted Mehdi Zakerian as saying.

Zakerian further said Rouhani should not act passively against U.S. President Donald Trump, who is in favor of unilateralism. He also urged Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to actively pursue Iran’s rights with regard to U.S. illegal withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear agreement.
