“Orange Days” tops at Mannheim-Heidelberg festival

TEHRAN – Iranian director Arash Lahuti’s “Orange Days” won three awards at the 67th Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival, which took place in the German cities from November 15 to 25.

The film won the Grand Newcomer Award as well as FIPRESCI Award.

“Orange Days” also received the Ecumenical Jury Award, which is presented by cinema owners.

The film tells the story of Aban, the only female contractor in the cutthroat and male-dominated orange harvesting industry, who enters a competition to win a large contract.

“The Fireflies Are Gone” by Sebastien Pilote from Canada received the Talent Award while Christian Malheiros, the star of the Brazilian film “Socrates” by Alex Moratto, won the Special Jury Award for his role in the film.
