TEHRAN – Iran has named a new ambassador to China at the suggestion of the foreign minister and approval of the president, Mehr reported on Saturday, quoting Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi.

Mohammad Keshavarz-Zadeh has been appointed as the new ambassador to China. He will depart Tehran for Beijing in the coming days.

Keshavarz-Zadeh has served as Iran’s ambassador to Venezuela and Uzbekistan. He is currently serving as an aid to the foreign minister.

Back in June, Abdolnaser Hemmati was named Iran’s ambassador to China, but was soon called back to Tehran to serve as central bank governor.
