TEHRAN – Austrian Islamic studies scholar Rüdiger Lohlker’s 2017 book “The Salafists: The Uprising of the Pious, Saudi Arabia and Islam” (“Die Salafisten: Der Aufstand der Frommen, Saudi-Arabien und der Islam”) has recently been published in Persian in Tehran.

Kuleh Poshty is the publisher of the book translated by Ali Abdollahi and Leila Qanbarian.

The book is about the origins of Salafism, which is a transnational religious-political ideology based on a belief in physical jihadism.

In the book, Lohlker tries to explain about this branch of Sunni Islam and how it has spread worldwide with Saudi help.
