TEHRAN – The new Head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Samad Hassanzadeh has said that considering the country’s capacities Iran’s economy can grow by 2.5 times the current level but the necessary conditions should be provided.

“The current capacity of Iran's economy can be expanded up to 2.5 times in the medium term; But if the current trends continue, this goal will not be achieved,” Hassanzadeh said on Monday.

According to the official, the most important priority for the development of the country at present is the re-creation of the Iranian economy based on the components of a knowledge-based, creative, and competitive economy.

Pointing out that this priority is emphasized by the country's h

senior officials, he added: “According to the studies, the potential capacity of Iran's economy can be expanded up to 2.5 times the current capacity in the medium term. It means that Iran's economy can potentially be expected to produce around 1000 billion dollars.”

Referring to the advantages of Iran's economy, he stated: “political stability in an unstable region, large domestic market and access to growing regional markets, huge amounts of oil and gas reserves, unique mineral reserves, the possibility of producing clean energy due to the geographical location, educated, young and technology-loving workforce, the existence of tourism attractions, etc. are the capacities that can be converted into wealth and income to increase people's well-being.”

Hassanzadeh emphasized that if the current trend continues this goal will not be achieved, saying: “This is where the issue of management can be raised. I mean a type of management that can change trends.”

“From the point of view of the private sector, the most important duty of the country’s officials to realize this goal is to use all the political, private and even military capacities of the country to increase the economic power of the country,” he stressed.
