Iran prioritizes bilateral, regional cooperation with Iraq, says Raisi

TEHRAN- Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has underscored the significance of bilateral and regional collaboration with Iraq, highlighting the alignment between Tehran and Baghdad against the Israeli regime. 

In a telephone conversation late Wednesday with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, President Raisi expressed optimism for enhanced cooperation and the strengthening of ties between the two nations through mutual efforts.

Al-Sudani extended condolences for the loss of Brigadier General Zaheri and his companions in the recent attack by the Israeli regime on the Iranian embassy's consular section in Damascus. 

He condemned the attack as a consequence of the regime's repeated failures against regional resistance forces. 

Al-Sudani affirmed confidence in the eventual triumph of Islamic resistance under Iran's leadership.

Acknowledging Iran's steadfast support for Iraq's peace and stability, Al-Sudani emphasized his government's commitment to bolstering strategic relations and cooperation with Tehran.

President Raisi thanked the Iraqi government for its solidarity with Iran and its condemnation of the Zionist regime's terrorist actions. 

He reiterated Iran's pride in its strategic stance and unwavering support for Islamic resistance. 

Raisi emphasized global recognition of Iran's true position over the past 45 years.

In conclusion, President Raisi characterized the joint opposition of Iran and Iraq to the usurping Zionist regime as a testament to the solidarity between the Iranian and Iraqi nations.
