Khayyam National Day
These file photos show the tomb of Omar Khayyam Neyshaburi (1048-1131), the Persian mathematician, astronomer, and poet who is chiefly known to English-speaking readers through the translation of a collection of his quatrains in the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam (1859) by the English writer Edward FitzGerald. Iranians have arranged many cultural programs to celebrate Khayyam National Day on May 17 this year. IRNA/Morteza Aminorroayai
