Iran presents outline of proposals package to various countries

TEHRAN - The Islamic Republic is currently presenting the outline of its package of diplomatic proposals to various countries, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said here on Sunday.

Iran’s envoys in various countries are discussing the outline of the proposals package with relevant officials, Hosseini told reporters at his weekly press briefing on Sunday.
Iran is working on a proposals package to the major powers which calls for negotiations on political, security, and economic issues as well as activities that have the potential to threaten global security by violating international law, such as violations of the terms of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
Asked if a time has been set for the presentation of the proposals package to the West, Hosseini said, “Currently we are completing the package… and can not specify a time at the moment.”
But no incentives can ever have the same value as the Iranian nation’s rights, Hosseini said.
The chief diplomats of the United States, Britain, Russia, China, France, and Germany (the 5+1 group) agreed on May 2 to offer Iran a new package of incentives to convince Tehran to forgo its right to uranium enrichment.
“Continuing to follow the approaches of the past will not benefit those countries, and no incentives can be deemed to have the same value as the Iranian nation’s rights. Therefore, proposals that would ignore our nation’s rights will not be deemed acceptable,” he noted.
He also said that a delegation from the International Atomic Energy Organization will visit Tehran this week.
U.S. trying to blame others for Lebanon crisis
“Currently, the Zionist regime and the United States and the media outlets affiliated to them are attempting to sow seeds of discord in Lebanon” and saying “sectarian and ethnic conflicts” are the cause of the country’s crisis, the Foreign Ministry spokesman stated.
The U.S. is trying to blame others for the crises in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Palestine and is pursuing the same policy in regard to Lebanon, he said.
Iran believes that the “theory of national unity” can provide a solution to Lebanon’s problems, he stated, adding that Tehran welcomes any proposal meant to help Lebanon extricate itself from the current impasse and is prepared to use all its capabilities to assist the Mediterranean country.
Olmert statements require no response
Asked about Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s recent statements about Iran, Hosseini said that the policies of the Zionist regime and the threats it poses to world peace and security are overt issues, and “I do not see any need for responding.”
In an interview published on The Washington Post website on Friday, Olmert reiterated his accusations about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
“Israel will not tolerate a nuclear weapon in the hands of” Iranians, he said.
